Traffic Delineators in South Africa
We have a large number of cars on the South African roads every day, so it is essential to keep our roads as safe as possible.
In some cases, roadworks, unusual road conditions and other road hazards can pose a threat to the safety of drivers as well as the people working on the road. It is therefore very important to help them navigate around the obstacle as effectively and safely as possible.
Traffic delineators are designed to act as a visual guide for drivers when abnormal road conditions are present, such a dangerous road conditions or road construction work. A lot of people, however, are still unsure about how these delineators are supposed to work or how they should be installed so that they work in conjunction with other signs on the road.
Traffic delineators – Injection Moulded Curved Blades
Traffic delineators are injection moulded curved blades that are made from ABS material. This product is stuck with a class 3 reflective prismatic sheeting that creates an arrow affect to point the follow of traffic in the right direction this provides great visibility at night as well.
They are installed on the roads to direct drivers around a construction site or lane narrowing for lane closures.
Traffic Delineators – Sizes
Our delineators are available in three different sizes:
- 800×200
- 1000×250
- 1200×250
Whilst the main delineator blade is black, it has a bright yellow reflective sticker to make it as visible as possible for drivers from long distances.
The 800×200 sticker size is generally 600×200, the 1000×250 sticker size is 800×250, and the 1200×250 sticker size is 1000×250.
While these delineators can be used in a wide variety of scenarios, including in the mining and construction industry, they are designed to be used to mark the boundaries of the road in areas where visibility is low or there are circumstances that impede a driver’s ability to identify where they should be driving.
Traffic Delineators – Speeds
- The 800×200 delineators are generally used on roads where the speed limit is 60km/h.
- The 1000×250 delineators are larger and are generally used on roads where the speed limit is 80km/h.
- The 1200×250 delineators are generally used national highway and or freeways where the speed are 120km/h.
Sometimes, traffic delineators are placed strategically at the edge of the road or at a corner where the pavement rises into a sidewalk so that drivers are aware of how much space they have in their lane and can avoid an accident or collision.
In other cases, traffic delineators are lined up to create a temporary lane for drivers to navigate around roadwork or utility maintenance. Delineators are typically used on public roads and installed by transportation officials, utility companies or maintenance crews, but they may also be installed by land owners to mark the area where a public road meets their property line.
